Enhancements list

All ranged weapons can be enhanced in a variety of ways, regardless of whether they are hand-held, turret mounted, or a module like the arm cannon. One-handed weapons can only be enhanced once. Those with the two-handed effect may have two enhancements. Ranged weapons with the heavy effect are allowed three different enhancements.

Each enhancement provides a small increase to damage or violence, or an additional effect or two. They all have a GP cost, and can be purchased from Camelot’s arsenal like standard weapons. Enhancements can be freely activated or deactivated at any time outside of conflict phases. During conflict phases, characters must spend a move action to deactivate or reactivate an enhancement. Once purchased, weapon enhancements are considered activated by default.

Some of them are restricted to certain weapon types.

There are no standard enhancements for melee weapons, no special ammunition or laser sights to clip onto a sword hilt. The only way they can be improved is by adding structural upgrades or artistic decorations. Shields can be upgraded in this manner too, of course.

Structural upgrades are only available when the weapon is bought, adding to its GP cost. They cannot be deactivated or changed in any way, nor can they be added outside of the moment the weapon is purchased. One-handed weapons can have up to two structural upgrades, two-handed weapons or those with the heavy weapon effect can have up to three structural upgrades. Each upgrade can only be added once per weapon. Weapons with the ray of hope effect cannot receive structural upgrades

Ornamental upgrades are decorative additions to a weapon, allowing the Knight to link their weapons to their personal legend and make them a more integral part of their story. They can only be acquired once a Knight has accomplished certain goals in battle or performed a suitably heroic deed. Before paying the GP cost for any of these upgrades, the player must confer with their GM to make sure the conditions for it have been met, and which deeds in particular the decoration illustrates. If the GM decides that the character has met all the requirements for an ornamental upgrade, they can proceed to purchase it for the upgrade’s GP cost.

The two upgrade types do not share any limitations, and a melee weapon can have two or three structural upgrades in addition to two ornamental upgrades. If a Knight feels the need to add structural upgrades to a prestige weapon they can do so, following the rules and restrictions in this codex.
