Priest

AP 70 EP 60 FF 10 Gen. 1

Described in: Core book

Knights who choose the Paladin armour can pass as little more than destructive brutes to the untrained eye. By the same measure, Knights in Priest model meta-armour are seen as intellectual and selfless individuals, invaluable in the field. Designed at the same time as the Paladin, Priest is the only model equipped to deploy swarms of nanoconstruction robots (nanoC) capable of repairing their allies’ meta-armour. Even the most selfish and prideful Knight must admit that this trait alone makes them irreplaceable. As a result, nine out of ten banners count a Priest model among their number.

Knights in Priest model meta-armour are much more than glorified mechanics, however, and are more than capable of holding their own in the heat of battle. The suit they wear boasts vast energy reserves at the expense of the other models’ thicker plating. Priests endeavour to ’heal’ their allies and their allies, in turn, protect their Priest. That being said, with the right equipment and upgrades, a Priest model can be quite effective at dealing damage to the forces of the Anathema, albeit not as well as meta-armour built solely for combat.

In more concrete terms, there are two ways in which Priests can deploy their nanomachines. They can release dense swarms of nanoCs in melee range, by using the tools affixed to three mechanical appendages on their backs, and in lesser quantities at range, by means of propulsion units in their gauntlets.

Then there is the Priest’s second ability. NanoCs are primarily used to repair damaged armour, but they are also able to build simple and complex objects of varying size depending on the Priest’s armour evolutions and its wearer’s aptitude. Those who have gained enough glory in the eyes of the organisation are given access to blueprints for vehicles, houses, and even functioning weapons created seemingly from nothing with their swarming nanomachines.

Smaller in stature than the Warrior model but still heavily armoured, Priest suits are technological marvels, the only armour other than the Wizard powered by an Infinity alpha energy reactor. This reactor provides a huge amount of power and excellent force fields at the expense of some armour thickness. Its energy reserves make the Priest ideal for using weapons with large power requirements.

The Priest model’s frame is lighter than others of its generation, with plating less than an inch thick. Since this lighter armour is unlikely to fully protect its wearer from heavy ordnance, Knights in Priest suits favour cover-based firefights over rushing into the fray. The toughest part of the armour is the Infinity reactor’s casing, thick layers of alpha element designed to preserve the fragile, precious core.

Three mechanical arms are attached to the armour’s back. Directly connected to the wearer’s nervous system, they can perform precise technical tasks with little effort. Each arm can dispense a large number of nanomachines and can generate almost any tool at its tip, ranging from power drills to computer jacks, bolt cutters, and precision measuring devices. Priest meta-armours excel in any situation that calls for utility over brute force. It is the only one of the four first generation armours to have been designed with support and logistics in mind rather than frontline fighting.

NanoC Mode

By activating nanoC mode, a character may create simple geometric shapes from swarming metallic nanomachines, up to a size of 10 cubic feet.

They may also create more detailed objects, up to 6.5 cubic feet in size.

Finally, a character may create electronic or mechanical equipment in sizes up to 3 cubic feet.

The GM has final say on what can feasibly be created by nanoC mode. They can rule that assembly of a particularly complicated item takes more time and energy than simple ones, and refuse the items that seem unreasonable (such as building a nuclear weapon without the appropriate material, for instance).

Effect: Activating NanoC mode requires a move action, a combat action, or a whole turn, depending on the complexity of the desired item. Builder nanomachines are released to assemble an item seemingly from thin air. In order to successfully create an item, the user must succeed at a Tech based check against a difficulty set by the GM depending on how intricate or complex the item is. All constructs last 1 minute or 10 turns in combat before disappearing. This duration can be prolonged by spending an additional 2 energy points per minute. An item’s durability and usefulness are also left up to the GM’s discretion.

Energy 3 for a basic shape / 6 for a detailed object / 9 for a mechanically complex item, anything high tech, computerised, etc
Activation Move action, combat action, or 1 turn
Duration 1 minute or 10 turns during a conflict phase

Mode Mechanic

The character can thus repair the meta-armor, vehicle, or equipment of a person or ally.

Variants

For one move action in melee range, the Priest’s gauntlets release concentrated quantities of construction nanomachines. This allows the user to repair meta-armour, vehicles, and other equipment.

Effect: The Priest restores 3D6 + 6 armour points to the target vehicle, meta-armour, or piece of equipment.

Energy 4
Activation Move action
Duration Instantaneous

Up to long range, for one move action, the Priest’s gauntlets release clouds of nanoCs to repair meta-armour, vehicles or other equipment.

Effect: The Priest restores 2D6 + 6 armour points to the target vehicle, meta-armour, or piece of equipment

Energy 6
Activation Move action
Duration Instantaneous
GP Description
150

Items created by nanoC mode now last 1 hour. This duration can be prolonged by spending an additional 2 energy points per hour.

200

Mechanic mode provides an additional 1D6 + 6 points to armour repaired, in melee or at range (bringing melee repairs to 4D6 + 12, and ranged repairs to 3D6 + 12).

250

NanoC mode now allows the wearer to create the following vehicles, without a skill check, and for 1 hour at a costof 9 EP: steed motorbike, stallion, marauder II, and light vector. The Priest must stay in direct contact with the vehicle, powering it with their reactor.

This meta-armour’s presentation describes its toollimbs. What effect do they have on the wearer’s ability to carry and use weapons, or perform additional actions? – page 143
Q&A > Meta-armour questions > Priest - Jan. 17, 2025, 12:31 p.m.

None. The tool-limbs in the armour’s description are thematic flavour and nothing more. As precision tools, they cannot be used in battle as weapons. They serve no other purpose than to allow faster and better repairs, reflected by the meta-armour’s abilities and ODs.
