Stun X

Described in: Core book

Description

If this weapon’s attack roll is higher than the target’s Flesh aspect (divided by 2 for NPCs), then they lose their next X actions. This has no effect on bands. This effect cannot be applied to a target that is already stunned by another stun effect. Under certain circumstances, a stun effect may be automatic as long as the skill check to hit succeeds, regardless of the target’s Flesh aspect score. The attacking character still needs to roll to hit. The attack roll does not need to be higher than the target’s Flesh aspect (or half their aspect, rounded up, for an NPC) for the stun to work. A stunned character may suffer a 2-point penalty to their reaction and defence scores if the GM considers it appropriate. This effect does not stack with the interference X effect.

Example: Mike’s character attacks a feral with a Flesh score of 8. The character tries to hit it with a charged gauntlet, which has a stun 2 effect. He rolls 7 successes on his attack roll. This is higher than the feral’s Flesh score divided by 2. The creature loses its next 2 actions.

Enhancements with this effect
Does a character affected by a stun X effect who cannot act at all during their turn suffer a disadvantage to their defence and reaction values? – page 414
Q&A > Arsenal questions > General effect questions - Jan. 17, 2025, 12:31 p.m.

No. They lose actions, but can still protect themselves. Their defence and reaction values remain intact. If the GM deems it appropriate, the attacker can get a bonus to their attack roll (up to +3 attack dice).

Does anti-Anathema cancel all major exceptional Flesh bonuses? – pages 414 and 101
Q&A > Arsenal questions > General effect questions - Jan. 17, 2025, 12:31 p.m.

No, the anti-Anathema effect does not cancel wounding, barrage X, or stun X effects.

Are exceptional aspects added to the target aspect score when comparing the number of attack successes required to apply stun X? – page 414
Q&A > Arsenal questions > General effect questions - Jan. 17, 2025, 12:31 p.m.

Neither OD values nor NPC exceptional aspects are added to a PC’s aspect (or half an NPC’s aspect) score when determining whether stun X is applied or not. Any effects ODs and exceptional aspects have on stun X are detailed in the Endurance OD and exceptional Flesh aspect descriptions.
